I was worried at first starting Talking As Fast As I Can, thinking I’d spend the full book wishing it was about Lorelai instead of Lauren Graham.
Turns out, Lauren and Lorelai have a lot in common. Including coffee. And her writing will keep you going, and keep you laughing, much the way Lorelai and Rory’s back and forths keep us watching Gilmore Girls over and over.
If, for some crazy reason, you haven’t yet watched A Year in the Life, be warned – the book contains some spoilers. On the pl
us side, Lauren points them out to you, and tells you to skip to the next chapter. May I suggest finally getting down watching it and then read the book.
A warning, you’ll want to rewatch the show along the way.
I found there’s a lot I didn’t know about Graham. For the writers reading this, there is a chapter dedicated to her writing a novel, and this book. I enjoy reading writers talking about writing. The things I didn’t know are pretty incredible – from her novel to her scripts for TV shows and movies.
It’s also not the memoir you’ve already read by Tina Fey, Amy Pohlman or Mindy Kaling. Whether you loved or hated those, read this one.
